PINTEREST EVENING...

Last week Nina from Nina's Apartment had a Pinterest making evening where you could come  along to her workshops and actually make something you have pinned on Pinterest.

I have to say I probably do make quite a few things from my boards on Pinterest (I have 99 of them with over 5000 pins...eeek) but it was good to get out of the house for a couple of hours with some like minded people and some adult conversation....

Anyhoo I decided to make this canvas after watching a Christy Tomlinson video on YouTube when I realised I actually have the kit she was using and had never used it...bad....so I was stash busting as well as creating something. Sorry I can't find the link to the video as it is coming up as an error on my Pin...

WIP...FINISHED...

Remember this from way back in August last year...seriously can't believe it was that long ago...Well.....

I finally finished it...
I added all the names of my kids to it.

I think it was doing my Documented Life page last week that made me do it...It is now haning up in my kitchen and I love it.

CANVAS LOVE...AGAIN...

I know,  my blog has been seriously neglected for months now...I'm not often on the laptop anymore as I tend to use my iPad for everything... It has also become easier to post on Instagram or my Facebook page as it is just so much quicker and easier than Blogger...

Anyway in case you may have missed me here's a couple of canvases that I have been working on...

The top one is finished and was inspired by one I seen somewhere in the online world but can't remember where. The second one is a work in progress. Due to it being the school holidays I've not had much craft time and I have also been suffering with migraines quite badly...

Thanks for reading (if you have!)

CANVAS LOVE...

A canvas inspired by one I found on Pinterest....
The heart is made from canvas from a roll which I painted and left textured and the stamped with my favourite script stamp.

It's not the original quote I was going to put on it as for the life of me I couldn't remember it...

Thanks for looking.

I HEART CANVAS...

I've done another canvas...as per usual it's nothing like it started out as...didn't like it so I changed half way through to one I found in Craft Stamper either last month or the month before...

I love these little balloon shapes and so easy to do...make your shape out of wire, adhere to the backing of your choice, cut round the shape and then fill with glossy accents or even crackle accents...great effect!

I used an old wooden heart here, giving it much the same colour effect as the canvas itself, then I stamped up some tissue paper with a huge text stamp and stuck it down and  then covered the whole thing with crackle accent...I love the effect that gives...The small heart is the centre of a Tim Holtz stamp covered with more glossy accent.

This is a lovely quote from a Unity stamp which I like also stamped on tissue and stuck down...I should have left it alone though as it's a little squint!!

Thanks for looking!!!

ANOTHER CANVAS...

I've done another canvas along the same lines as the butterfly ones that I love to make..and they are a great way to use up all your patterned paper scraps...you know the ones you keep because they might just be the colour/pattern you need for a project...haha..I have two drawers full of these!!

This one is slightly smaller...

I love stamping on tissue paper and mod podging it onto canvases as the white of the tissue all but disappears with the glue...

I also love these heart balloon stamps by Paperbag Studios who do some fab stamps..

One more day of school and then we are finished for 46 days and counting!!!

WEE CANVAS...

Just a wee canvas that I started a while ago...texture paste through the alpha stencil and lots of messy paints...it's been sitting on my desk for ages waiting for the right finishing touch and I had the quotation stamp set out for the card in the post below and it just seemed right...

Really should go now as I am supposed to be at potted sports by now...hope you all have a great day and really hope the rain stays off!!

THANK YOU CANVAS...

A couple of weeks ago a very nice friend gave me a HUGE bag of blank canvases which she found when she had been clearing out... they had been her daughter's and they had been forgotten about and she was being ruthless with the clearing out:0)

I saw the start of a canvas on my travels through the world wide web and thought it was lovely...Think it was on the One Fine Day blogspot...

I covered the 12"x12" canvas with cut up scraps of patterned paper and then gave it a wash with some of Claudine's Landscape Green mixed with Canvas and some water... I then added a sequin waste mask using black and white and the negative side as well...

The beautiful doily pattern was done using a huge doily mask I have(can't remember where from)... I mixed up some texture paste with more of the green paint and then spread it over(I taped a couple of edges with masking tape to hold it)... looked great and I was very nervous peeling it of but it worked brilliantly as you can see...I finished it by rubbing my black inkpad round the edges...

I stamped up the huge butterfly by tattered angels which I have had for ages...I then added a few rub on butterflies, stamped the quote(which I found on the Internet) onto book pages and mod podged on...

I am going to give this to Eleanor as a thank you for the canvases which will be put to good use....

A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME...

This is another of my tutorial efforts....I made this and another similar one around Christmas time...i really wasn't feeling well...almost 5 weeks with flu so it took me a while:0))

I kept this one and gave the other to Sonja as a belated Christmas present. I forgot to photograph it but maybe she will show it to you on her blog if you ask her nicely!!

As soon as I saw the post on the Scattered Scarlet blog I knew I wanted to try it out...I ordered the stamps(and a couple more besides!!) and made two...The house is a stamp that my friend Judy stamped up a few times for me when I was over one day...it's just so cute!!

Anyway you can find the tutorial on this Scattered Scarlet blog post!!!

A GOOD HEART...

A few weeks ago I thought I would try out one of the tutorials over at A Sprinkle of Imagination using a heart...I thought I would do two slightly different ones with the intention of using one as a giveaway on my Facebook Page...

This is the first one and the second one started out the same but a slightly different colour and I didn't like it so it got changed to this one below which is a different take on the wedding canvas a few posts below...lol...

I love the stripey sides painted in black and white...

This is what I gave to Allan on Valentine's Day...I think I will add the date of our wedding to it just to finish it off...

Hope you haven't got too much snow wherever you are today... we seem to have loads!!!

SNEAK PEAK...

A little sneak peak of a canvas I made for someone to give to their wife on Valentine's Day..

First of all I covered the canvas with blocks of  patterned paper from a 6x6 Glitz pack called cashmere dame which is all lovely and vintagey...just my thing...I reprinted the photo onto sticky back canvas to give it the shabby vintage feel as well...painted the initials black and sanded them and added a pretty flower made from book pages...my favourite!

I added a tag into a glassine envelope so the giver can write their own special message...gave the matting a bit of a spritz with some Mr Huey calico white mister...

There is a doily in behind for another touch of vintage and finally the addition (after much hunting and getting some more from Sonja!) I added these two little veneer people to a heart!

It is a very pretty canvas and I haven't added the full size photo as it's for Valentine's Day and I don't want it seen before the big day...I will post this later...

FINISHED PROJECTS...

At last a couple of finished projects from my studio...Love the canvas...started by covering with vintage music pages then used an old credit card to spread the blue paint and then added some white to the mix but I decided it was a little dark so added a paler blue...

I then punched (Stampin Up punch) some paper scraps to make bunting and used some words I cut from magazines and some more words stamped on the same scrap I used for the bunting...

The LOVE and the wee birdie are Tim Holtz and stamped on tissue paper then mod podged down...so much easier than stamping straight onto the canvas as you always end up losing some of the image....and that's it finished...

Invitations are finished ready for the girls to take back to school...the dancer is by Lyndsay Mason Design and perfect for the girls...I have tried some masking and ghosting using Dylusion Inks and That Special Touch Of masks with mixed results but I like how they have turned out...

The paper mache torso has some trim and wings added to it but is not finished just yet...

CRAFT JUST FOR ME...

Since I decided to stop doing craft fairs I still haven't really had time for 'craft for me' so last night I decided that I was going to take a bit of time out and have a go at Christy's canvas project for July using the mixed media kit which I have subscribed to for the last 6 months but so far have not had the time to use yet:0(
I love this use of stickers as masks...
The saying just popped into my head when I was watching the tutorial the other day so decided to just go with it...
I also love the way she uses rub-ons for texture and I LOVE white rub-ons...

Anyway if you are looking for a kit that's a wee bit different pop over to the Scarlet Lime shop and check it out...I have loved all my kits so far even though I've not used them yet...hopefully that will change soon as I have one last big order to complete and that's me(for now!)

Thanks for looking and have a great day:0)
